Imagine you are making a dress on a big table. Now imagine placing clear plastic sheets on top of that table.

  • One sheet has your main pattern
  • Another has seam allowance
  • Another has Size 10

Nothing is removed; nothing is destroyed. You simply choose which sheets you want to see. That is exactly how layers work in Patternmaker.

What Layers Really Do

Every object you draw lives on a layer. Layers can be:

If some layers are hidden, always ask yourself: “Is there something related on another layer that also needs editing?” For example, don’t move a cut line and forget the stitching line underneath it.
