A fashion designer’s unique expertise is reflected in their specific methods for measuring and drafting patterns. To achieve accurate results when using a designer’s pattern macro, simply ensure you take your measurements just as they do.

Does that mean that just because I can take measurements using the designer’s methods, I can use the designer’s patterns and get a custom fit? Yes, measurement taking is the meeting point for both parties.

When creating the pattern in Macrogenerator the pattern maker creates a measurements table afresh or links an existing measurement table to the pattern. To make it helpful the designer/pattern maker adds images and instruction to help the user take the measurements accurately.

PatternMaker stores the designer’s measurement tables as .mmt files to serve as templates. Users can use these templates to create their own measurements. PatternMaker saves the user’s measurements it as a .mtb. Create your measurements in PatternMaker/Settings. After that using the designer’s macros all you have to do is click on your measurements for it to generate a pattern in your custom fit.

You can use a macro without saving your measurements, but you will have to type them in every time. Saving a profile lets you make patterns with a single click.
